More Schwere 24-cm-Kanone. Entwicklung und Einsatz bis 1945 (Waffen-Arsenal 138) By Wolfgang Fleischer Die schwere 24-cm-Kanone fand im Verlauf von knapp 30 Jahren in drei europäischen Armeen Verwendung und war in dieser Zeit immer wieder in geographischen Räumen im Einsatz, die in der Militärgeschichtsschreibung späterer Jahre besondere Erwähnung finden. Ihre Geschichte beginnt in Ö sterreich-U ngarn. Die Donaumonarchie verfügte bereits zu Beginn des Ersten Weltkrieges, gestützt auf die hochentwickelte Schwerindustrie in Böhmen und Mähren, über einen stattlichen Bestand schwerer und schwerster Geschütze moderner Bauart. Dazu zählten der 30-cm-Mörser M.ll und die 42-cm-Küstenhaubitze. Während des Krieges kamen hinzu: — der 30,5-cm-Mörser M.16, — die 42-cm-Haubitze Ml6, — die 42-cm-Autohaubitze M. 17 — die 38-cm-Haubitze M.16 und — die 24-cm-Kanone M.16. Abgesehen von der 42-cm-Küstenhaubitze. die erst 1915 behelfsmäßig für den Eisenbahntransport hergerichtet wurde, waren die Geschütze motorisiert und damit hochbeweglich.
