More Zerstörer Me-210 Entwicklung und Einsatz (Waffen-Arsenal - Sonderband 43) By Hans P Dabrowski Bereits im Jahr 1937, also noch vor Beginn der Bf 110-Serienproduktion, wurde an eine Weiterentwicklung dieses zweimotorigen Zerstörers gedacht Willy Messerschmitt beabsichtigte allerdings eine Neukonstruktion, die nach einigen Vorentwürfen und Berechnungen Ende 1938 unter der Projektnummer P1060 konkrete Formen annahm und vom RLM die Typen-nummer 210 zugewiesen bekam. Im Gegensatz zur Bf 110, deren Firmenkürzel Bf = Bayerische Flugzeugwerke bedeutete, hieß der neue Zerstörer nun Me 210, da die BFW ab 1938 in Messerschmitt AG umgewandelt wurden. Die Neuentwicklung eines Zerstörers war sicher nicht deshalb geplant, weil man die Bf HO für unbrauchbar hielt. Alle Flugzeughersteller gingen nach Erreichung der Serienreife eines Musters an die Verbesserung der Leistungen aufgrund sich ständig erweiternder Erkenntnisse. Und bekanntlich schlief ja auch schon damals die Konkurrenz nicht...
