More Heather Moehn, "World Holidays: A Watts Guide for Children" This useful resource presents more than 100 religious, cultural, and national holidays celebrated around the world. Alphabetically arranged, most of the entries run from one half to a full page while a few (Hanukkah, Lent, and Ramadan) are longer. A captioned full-color photograph helps to place each celebration in a cultural context. A section on calendars around the world and a five-year holiday calendar are appended. The many cross-references help children to see the similarities among holidays and cultures. Children Just Like Me: Celebrations! (DK, 1997) is more visually exciting and could possibly be used by younger students because of the visuals, but is not as comprehensive as this title.-Peg Glisson, Mendon left Elementary School, Pittsford, NY
