Mechanisms of Synaptic Transmission, Volume 31 (Progress in Brain Research) by K. Akert

The synapse is undoubtedly the single most important specific structure of brain tissue. Its morphology, physiology, pharmacology and biochemistry formed the topic of an International Symposium held in Einsiedeln on September 29 and 30, 1968, under the auspices of the Swiss Society of the Natural Sciences on the occasion of its 148th annual convention. The specific aim of the conference was a synthesis of recent deveIopments in this field presented in the form of concise reviews by wellknown scientists. An additional number of speakers gave laboratory reports on selected topics.
