Irvine Welsh "Trainspotting"

Irvine Welsh works, rests and raves in Edinburgh. He has had a variety of occupations too numerous and too tedious to recount. Trainspotting was his first novel and he has also published a collection of short stories, a novell entitled The Acid House and a second novel, Marabou Stork Nightmares.

The book is very different from the undoubtly perfect film of the same name with Ewan McGregor and Jonny Lee Miller playing main roles. Trainspotting a collection of vignettes about Edinburgh street life among the heroin users strung together by a common cast and a narrative about Renton escaping. It's not a book for the faint-hearted - it is often graphic and disturbing in its portrayal of drug addiction and violence.
