I've been a fan of Grant Geissman's for years and really enjoyed his previous CD, Say That, which was much more cool/bepop than his previous solo recordings. Cool Man Cool is another CD with a strong flavor of cool jazz from the 50's. Grant's playing -- and writing -- is in top form here, and while he has his own style there are unmistakable winks and nods to the styles of guitar legends like Kenny Burrell, Jim Hall, Wes Montgomery and even Django Reinhardt. As always, Mr. Geissman has a killer backup band and, as an added treat there are guest appearances by Chuck Mangione and Chick Corea. This is a joyful performance from start to finish. Very highly recommended!
