More Gale Group - Gale E-Commerce Sourcebook 2 Volume Set The Gale E-Commerce Sourcebook strives to fill a need for a comprehensive reference providing detailed directory information, resource contact data, practical knowledge, and "how to" topics for students, entrepreneurs, researchers, and faculty as well as interested laypersons and consumers. An introductory essay presents a brief history of the Internet and e-commerce. Following the essay, the alphabetically arranged section "'How To' Topics in E-Commerce" discusses 100 topics like authoring software, business-to-government (B2G) e-commerce, data integrity, digital authentication, network topologies, performance metrics, and voice commerce. Each article is generally one to four pages long, includes trends or outlooks where appropriate, and always concludes with a short further reading list of print and electronic references. The articles are reprinted from journals, Web sites, and other sources. The directory section, also arranged alphabetically, covers more than 4,700 associations, consultants, educational programs, publications, trade shows, and Web site designers and hosting companies. Entries include name, contact name, address, phone, toll-free and fax numbers, e-mail and URL addresses, and brief descriptions of purpose and services as well as descriptive information such as number of employees, date founded, publications, and awards. Leading e-commerce companies are also profiled with ranking by revenue and number of employees. An index at the end of volume 2 provides more access points to users. The index is explained in the "Preface and User's Guide" in volume 1; it would be helpful to have the explanation repeated at the start of the index in volume 2. Readers will better understand the e-commerce big picture after consulting this valuable tool. Public, academic, and special libraries will want to add this unique resource to their business reference collections.
