More Steve Ginter - Convair XP5Y-1 & R3Y-1/-2 Tradewind Naval Fighters Series No 34 The Tradewind was a 4 engine counter-rotating turboprop flying boat designed as part of the mobile base concept along with the Seadart, Pogo and XFV-1. The tradewind was the transport portion of the concept and was also built as a bow loader intended to replace the Mars flying boat.
