More This ‘chemical’ approach is also aimed at demystifying the industry to a neophyte; whilst no-one would wish to deny the essential creativity of perfumers and flavourists, it is also important to realise that, to quote Steve Herman in his Chapter ‘Applications II: Fragrance’, '... the fundamental key to dealing with the technical aspects of fragrance is to treat them as mixtures of chemicals’.
