More Canadair Sabre Cl.13B Mk. 6 (F-40 Flugzeuge Der Bundeswehr 17) By Siegfried Wache Anfang der 60er Jahre auf einem norddeutschen Fliegerhorst. Wie an einer Schnur aufgereiht stehen die hochglanzpolierten Sabres des Geschwaders, staffelweise abgestellt, blitzend im gleißenden Sonnenlicht auf der Flight des Fliegerhorstes. Von Südwesten nähern sich Kondensstreifen, eine "feindliche" Jagdflugzeugformation fordert zum Luftkampf heraus. Völlig ungeplant, aber das ist zu dieser Zeit durchaus üblich. Diese Gelegenheit lassen sich unsere Piloten natürlich nicht entgehen. Schon wird es auf dem Hallenvorfeld lebendig, Bodenaggregate springen an, Warte und Piloten rennen an die Maschinen, hastiges Anschnallen und schon hört man das Singen der Anlaßgeneratoren, das bald vom Rauschen der Triebwerke erstickt wird. Dann rollen vier Sabre rottenweise zur Startbahn, die Triebwerke werden auf Vollast gebracht und schon donnern die Jagdflugzeuge immer schneller werdend die Runway hinunter, um schnell im makellosen Blau des Himmels zu verschwinden.
