More Reinhard Schuster, "Biomathematik: Mathematische Modelle in der Medizinischen Informatik und in den Computational Life Sciences mit Computerlösungen in Mathematica" Die Phänomene in Medizin und Computational Life Sciences lassen sich in wachsendem Maße mit mathematischen Modellen beschreiben. In diesem Buch werden Mechanismen der Modellbildung beginnend von einfachen Ansätzen (z. B. exponentielles Wachstum) bis zu Elementen moderner Theorien, wie z. B. unterschiedliche Zeitskalen in der Michaelis-Menten-Theorie in der Enzymkinetik, vorgestellt. Modelle werden schrittweise erweitert um zu zeigen, welche mathematischen und biologischen Konsequenzen Modellannahmen bewirken. Das Softwaresystem Mathematica hilft im Verständnis komplexer Modelle, indem es moderne Methoden der Informatik in einer Vielzahl von mathematischen Gebieten (Analysis, Geometrie, Statistik) bereitstellt. Eine besondere Stärke liegt auf dem Gebiet der Computeralgebra. Der Leser soll zu einem selbständigen Exprimentieren im Umfeld der vorgestellten Modelle angeregt werden.
