More Bell/Agusta 47G-2 (F-40 Flugzeuge Der Bundeswehr 18) By Siegfried Wache Zunächst einmal soll auf den Einsatz der "Kleinen Bell" eingegangen werden, wie dieser Hubschrauber liebevoll von den Piloten und Technikern der Hubschrauberführerschule der Luftwaffe in Faßberg genannt wurde. Entwickelt wurde dieser Helicopter von einem der großen Pioniere des Hubschrauberbaus in den USA, dem Ingenieur Arthur M. Young. Beginnend im Jahre 1928 entwickelte dieser Mann in mehr als 10jähriger Arbeit einen der ersten flugfähigen Hubschrauber in Amerika. Hauptmerkmal war der halbstarre Zweiblattrotor, der bis heute für die meisten Beil-Hubschrauber charakteristisch ist. Auf der zunächst vergeblichen Suche nach einer Flugzeugfirma, die sein Konzept zur Serienreife führen sollte, geriet er 1941 an Lawrence "Larry" Bell, Gründer der Bell Aircraft Company. Niemand ahnte zu diesem Zeitpunkt, daß damit der Grundstein zu einem Hubschrauberimperium gelegt wurde.
