On-Demand-Anwendungen mit Apex Die Apex Plattform von Salesforce.com ist ein Service um On-Demand-Anwendungen zu entwickeln, anzupassen und nicht zuletzt, diese über das Internet auszutauschen. Einer der populären Vorteile dieser Herangehensweise ist, dass die Anwendungen vorher nicht erst installiert oder irgendwie an die vorhandene physische Hardware oder das Betriebssystem angepasst werden müssen. Die Idee hinter dem Buch entstand aus den verschiedenen Herangehensweisen an die Apex Plattform. Zum einen kann der Leser die integrierte Entwicklung mit dem Apex Builder kennen lernen, zum anderen aber auch die Entwicklung von eigenen Service-orientierten Anwendungen, welche das Apex Web Service API nutzen. Mit jedem Salesforce.com Account werden zudem schon vorgefertigte Anwendungen, wie das CRM, mitgeliefert. Nicht zuletzt deshalb wird im Buch auch der Anpassung des Accounts und der darin befindlichen Anwendungen ein Teil gewidmet.
