More Kurban Said, Leo Noussimbaum, “” Pressenotiz zu : Süddeutsche Zeitung, 02.09.2000 Gefallen findet die Rezensentin Manuela Reichart an diesem 1937 erstmals erschienen und jetzt neu aufgelegten Roman. Sie bezeichnet die Neuauflage als "die Wiederentdeckung eines (…) multikulturellen Liebesromans". Es geht um die Liebesgeschichte zwischen dem Muslim Ali und der Christin Nino, die – obwohl sie religiöse und kulturelle Konventionen überwindet – am Lauf der "großen Geschichte", an den Auswirkungen der russischen Revolution scheitert. Schauplatz ist Baku im Kaukasus. An diesem Ort findet Reichart "keine guten Europäer und schlechten Orientalen", sondern verortet einen interkulturellen Ansatz: "Alles ist eine Frage des Standpunktes". Dieses transkulturelle Element findet seine Entsprechung in der nur teilweise geklärten Autorenschaft: Der Name Kurban Said ist ein Pseudonym, erklärt Reichart, dahinter verbirgt sich die vom Orient begeisterte Baronin von Ehrenfels, und ein zum Islam übergetretener Jude – Lev Nussimbaum – gilt als Mitverfasser.
