When the Last Swords is Drawn is an epic samurai film sets during the fall of the Tokugawa shogunate. It tells the story of two Shinsengumi (the special force of the late shogunate period) samurai , Saito Hajime (Koichi Sato) – an aloof killer , and his opposite, Yoshimura Kanichiro (Kiichi Nakai) , who appears to be a shameless money-grubbing country bumpkin. The film won the Best Film award at the 2004 Japanese Academy Awards as well as best actor (Kiichi Nakai) and Best Supporting Actor (Koichi Sato).

Yoshimura Kanichiro (Kiichi Nakai) is a bushido warrior who left his clan and homeland to join the Shinsengumi (Shogun special forces) in Kyoto. As a result of his action, his family becomes the object of derision by the clan members and he is labeled as a traitor. The Shinsengumi members were originally known as the Miburo (ronin of Mibu) for their station in Mibu, a suburb of central Kyoto. Inside Shinsengumi, Yoshimura met Saito, an taciturn killer , who holds highly the honor code of the samurai and despise Yoshimura’s shameless money-grubbing country bumpkin style. As period changes, the Shinsengumi is facing life and death decision whether to stay loyal with the Shogun or join the Emperor. Through flashbacks, the film skillfully reveals Yoshimura’s difficult decision of leaving his clan and his complicated path ; and….when the last sword is drawn, ...........

2. Play normally with VLC media player , go to VIDEO on top of VLC and choose SUBTITLE TRACK at the dropdown menu and select the appropriate subtitle .

1. “Add” the .AVI file from the movie folder into the ConvertXtoDVD (the .IDX and .SUB file extensions should follow automatically providing all of them have the same exact file name). For non techie : FILE-NAME.FILE-EXTENSION

2. “Convert” and “Burn” normally

3. Use the button on your DVD or the remote control to select the appropriate subtitle for your viewing.
