More Warum es sich lohnt, faul, unpünktlich und unordentlich zu sein. Das Buch der Tugendlosigkeit Ganz schön provozierend zu behaupten, es lohne sich, “faul, unpünktlich und unordentlich zu sein”. Denn zu Fleiß, Pünktlichkeit und Ordnung versuchten uns nicht nur Eltern und Lehrer zu erziehen. Auch die meisten Ratgeber-Bücher, die uns zu beruflichem Erfolg und privatem Glück verhelfen wollen, scheinen ohne solche Ideale nicht auszukommen. Zwar klingt Tugend altmodisch, aber Tugendlosigkeit zu propagieren dürfte viele doch etwas vor den Kopf stoßen. Sehr gemischte Reaktionen von Bewunderung bis Verachtung bekam der Arzt Axel Braig auch zu spüren, als er sich bereits mit 50 ins Privatleben zurückzog. Die Frage nach dem Stellenwert der Arbeit in unserer Gesellschaft veranlasste ihn zunächst über öffentlich nachzudenken (gemeinsam mit Ulrich Renz). Als eine Bekannte ihn fragte: “Hast du kein schlechtes Gewissen?”, begann der Autor die moralische Dimension des Tätigseins näher zu untersuchen. Dabei gerieten neben dem Fleiß auch andere selbstverständliche Tugenden ins Fadenkreuz des scharfsichtigen Querdenkers. In unserer von Polarität bestimmten Existenz (alles hat zwei Seiten) kann nämlich auch eine Untugend manchmal durchaus Erfreuliches bewirken: Wer mit eiligen Schritten zum Bahnhof hastet, freut sich, wenn der Zug unpünktlich ist. Für Werte wie Ordnung, Vernunft und Wahrheit, die meist einseitig glorifiziert werden, lassen sich umgekehrt genügend Beispiele finden, die “vom Schlechten des Guten” erzählen. Auf einem dialektischen Spaziergang führt uns Axel Braig durch den Garten der Philosophie und pflückt “die schönsten Früchte ab von jedem Baum”, die wir als witzige Zitate und amüsante Pointen genießen können. liefert keine “nachahmungsfähigen Patentrezepte”, sondern möchte zu “selbstbestimmten Wegen” ermutigen. Ordnung ist nur das halbe Leben! Über Tugenden spricht man meist nicht. Sie werden auch nicht hinterfragt. Es erscheint uns einfach selbstverständlich, dass wir fleißig, vernünftig, gut organisiert, wahrheitsliebend, pünktlich und nicht zu egoistisch sein sollten. All diese Tugenden lehrt uns angeblich der gesunde Menschenverstand. Aber ist der tatsächlich so gesund? Axel Braig leistet fundierte Aufklärungsarbeit über Risiken und Nebenwirkungen gängiger Moralvorstellungen.
