Niniejsza książka opisuje dzieje 14. Dywizji Grenadierów SS „Galizien" (14. Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS /ukrainische Nr. 1/ „Galizien").

Dywizja oprócz operacji bojowych na froncie wschodnim (m.in. pod Brodami) i na terenie Słowacji w 1944 roku oraz Słowenii i Austrii w 1945 roku „zasłynęła" z licznych zbrodni popełnionych na ludności polskiej na Wołyniu i Galicji Zachodniej m.in. w Siemianówce w lipcu 1944 roku.

Okrutną ironia losu było to, że ukraińscy żoł-dacy-mordercy z dywizji SS „Galizien" zawdzięczali życie osobistej interwencji generała Władysława Andersa w dowództwie brytyjskim, po której zostali uznani za... obywateli państwa polskiego w 1939 roku i jako tacy nie zostali przekazani ZSRS, gdzie czekało na nich NKWD i „obozy wypoczynkowe" na Syberii, zaś dowódca Ukraińskiej Armii Narodowej generał Pawło Szandruk, uprzednio oficer kontraktowy Wojska Polskiego, został odznaczony w 1965 roku orderem Virtuti Militari za walki z... Niemcami we wrześniu 1939 roku.
