An appreciation of the empirical and theoretical work on color perception suggests that there is no single or privileged analysis of the notion of & 8220;real colors.& 8221; Schwartz circles back in the end to what he calls & 8220;that old chestnut of the philosophy of perception& 8221;& 8211;controversies over & 8220;the objects of perception& 8221;& 8211;and takes an Austinian look at the topic.
