Doll Although concerned primarily wilh US Navy and Marine Corps air operations during the Korean War. this book is also meant to be both a reminder and a tribute to all who served in the Far East during the years 1950 through 1953. All wars come at the wrong time for most people and the war in Korea was no exception. Barely had we put the Second World War behind us when we were being asked to go to the aid of a country so small that most Americans were unsure of its location. When war came to Korea on 25 June 1950. thousands of Americans were uprooted from their peaceful existence and made to cope with the situation at hand. True, not all went against their will since the draft served only the US Army. The Navy. Marine Corps, and Air Force all met the crisis with volunteers, both regular and reserve.
