This book explores political strategies for governments that wish to take stronger action on climate change. The issue of climate change and policies designed to control it is very topical and likely to remain so. There are no recent surveys of the politics of climate change that cover a range of affluent democracies. For these reasons the book should be of interest not only to social scientists, and students on social science and environmental studies courses, but also to participants in the policy process and observers of climate policy and policy-making. This study analyses the politics of climate policy in a range of affluent democracies and at EU level in order to identify political strategies that would make it easier for governments to make major cuts in greenhouse gas emissions without sustaining significant political damage.
