More Laszlo Torok, "Transfigurations of Hellenism" This book deals with the architecture and visual arts in late antique–early Byzantine Egypt as an organic part of the art of the Mediterranean region in the period between the 3rd and 8th centuries. The richly illustrated book discusses the survival and transformations of Hellenistic themes and forms in the Roman and late antique periods. It also presents a history of Coptic art history. Readership: All those interested in the history of late antique and early Byzantine art, the history of Egypt in the period between the 3rd and 8th centuries, and the transformations of Hellenistic culture in the Roman and late antique world.
