Main review: The Caparo T1, is tested around the track, the infamous car that caused serious burns to Jason Plato who presents Fifth Gear. It gets round the track in a blistering 1:10.6 but is not allowed on the board due to the fact that it "can't run over a sleeping policeman, or Gandhi for that matter" (due to a ridiculously low ride height), according to Clarkson.

News: The presenters discuss the new Mitsubishi i and Richard announced he was shipping Oliver (the Opel Kadett from the previous episode) to England. His announcement was accompanied by James May playing romance music on his portable keyboard.

Challenge: The presenters race against one another across London to try and beat the London rush hour traffic towards London Airport. Jeremy drove a powerboat along the Thames, Richard used a bicycle, James drove in a Mercedes GL 500 and the Stig used public transport. Richard comes first, Jeremy a close second, the Stig third and James a poor last. Fearful that this result would ruin the reputation of cars and Top Gear in general (since the show's philosophy had always stressed the supremacy of the car), the presenters therefore announced that the segment as edited gave the wrong impression and that May's car did, in fact, win.
