Nell'estate del 1968 Buckley torna in Inghilterra per tenere un primo concerto londinese e, a causa dei costi di viaggio e di soggiorno, è costretto a portare con sé solo alcuni dei componenti del suo gruppo. A splendida testimonianza dell'evento resta il doppio postumo Dream Letter - Live In London 1968 ricavato dal concerto del 10 luglio alla Queen Elizabeth Hall, con Tim supportato da Underwood alla chitarra, da Friedman al vibrafono e dal bassista dei Pentangle Danny Thompson che, pur non avendo mai suonato prima di allora con Buckley, grazie alla naturale predisposizione per quello stile musicale e all'indubbia classe, riesce comunque a calarsi alla perfezione nel suono del gruppo. In scaletta brani tratti da Goodbye And Hello, alcune canzoni che troveranno posto in album successivi, originali cover e un buon numero di inediti. Di particolare interesse la proposta di "Dolphins" del vecchio maestro Fred Neil, il solitario confronto con la drammatica "Pleasant Street" che alla fine stempera nella "You Keep Me Hangin' On" di Brian Holland e Lamont Dozier (nel 1966 grande successo per le Supremes di Diana Ross), una finalmente splendida "Hallucinations", le bellissime sequenze "Dream Letter" / "Happy Time" e (completamente inedita) "Wayfaring Stranger" / "You Got Me Runnin'". Dal vivo lo scarno e affascinante accompagnamento strumentale e la voce di Tim, ormai libera di uscire dalle regole della semplice interpretazione di storie in musica (ma ancora sono inimmaginabili i futuri voli senza rete o paracadute), offrono una visuale sempre legata ad ambientazioni folk anche se le esecuzioni sono completamente svincolate dagli stereotipi del genere, a diretta anticipazione del magistrale Happy Sad.
