This album is without any doubt the best debut of the year 2007. It's just insane how Thrown is capable of getting away with a formula nobody would ever expect to work out.

Recipe is as follows: drunken and black 'n' rollish vocals, a mixture of bands like I and recent Kludde in a somewhat doomdeath-styled sauce. Music is built out of heavy stoner riffs the Orange Goblin-way, a prototypical Sabbathesk sound and skullbreaking grooves molten in a bowl of doom and death. Now, ask yourself, is this something that can be done or is it just but an utopical illusion that will never happen? I tell you it already has been made and it is called "The Suicidal Kings Occult".

When this album shreds open with the magnificent "I'm All Dead", you'd expect a traditional / stoner doom album, only a bit slower then you're used to. But just when you're getting into it, this thought is broken by the vocals that bring the first taste of this album in your mouth (i.e. ears, I'm still speaking metaphorically). It builds up to a faster climax and concludes as a wonderful first song, but still leaves some place to be sceptical. Then the tital track begins, from here on I just knew this album was going to kick ass. With "Going Down" bursting out of my stereo, the goal had been set - this album was aiming for best debut of the year. While the cd evolves we get more catchyness, more mindbending riffs and an intermezzo with the instrumental "Silent Chorus". The song that made the bullet hit the church, was "Once More I Loose All in the Mist". From then on I just knew it, this album wouldn't be topped no more in 2007. And it seems I was left.

We had Entombed's death 'n' roll and I's black 'n' roll, well, with Thrown we now have doom 'n' roll. Two of my favorite songs ("Going Down" and "Once More I Loose All in the Mist") are downloadable on their MySpace, I seriously recommend you do this. And if you just can't get enough, order the damn album, 'cause it's worth every penny.
