In 2005, the Society for the History of Technology awarded its first annual Eugene S. Ferguson Prize for outstanding and original reference works to The Wind and Beyond. The citation read in part:

In tiny letters on the pic it says "Volume II". In fact, this is the second of a 2-volume set. The first volume, "The Ascent of the Airplane" is nowhere but nowhere to be found (unless you've got US$35 to spare).
