A must have for all artists. Very helpful for animators includes chapters, exercises on how to capture the living force in art. This is a serious instruction manual that requires a lot of your time and energy. Using it is just like being in art class. You have to follow 25 schedules amounting to 15 hours of drawing each, and in all you will use more than 60 exercises. Each chapter builds on the previous ones, so it is necessary to do all of them in order, for as long as directed. Drawing is not a half brain activity, in order to really do it you've got to throw everything you've got at it - memory, theory, technical skill, imagination and so on. The quote on the back says "There is only one way to draw and that is a perfectly natural way", ultimately it is your way, whatever methods work for you. Instead of shoving new age metaphysical junk down your throat Kimon Niccolaides asks you to think for yourself. You don't have to follow everything.This is a book for serious art students, it will not teach you to make pretty drawings, it's about understanding your own thinking and understanding as 3 dimensionally as you can what you're trying to draw. or Thanks!
