They are two Lebanese Muslims who have grown up in Australia, and as a result, they know first-hand what it is like to be faced with all sorts of situations—whether they may be good or bad situations—as a Muslim in Australia. Their parents migrated to Australia a long time ago, but the two journalists were born here. Hence, they consider themselves as Australians, but do not want to let go of their Lebanese heritage.

This book is a fascinating compilation of real-life candid stories of different, young, Lebanese Muslims growing up in Australia. Revealed in this book are the many dilemmas these people go through in the process of trying to be true to themselves, and at the same time, trying to be true to the values of their parents and keeping in mind their roots.

The Glory Garage was a very informative and eye-opening book because it gave a good insight into the lives of a variety of different kinds of Muslims. It helped to understand what they are like, and how they feel about different issues, from understanding their own culture and faith, to coping with the portrayal of Muslims around the world. What I especially liked about this book was the fact that along side the prejudices these people had to face, the support from the general public was also acknowledged greatly. So, it was not just a pity story.

I think anyone looking to be informed about the life of Muslims, would enjoy this book.
