More John Ankerberg & John Weldon " - The Truth Behind the Jesus Seminar" This report is part of the 'facts on' series of evangelical Christian apologetics by the Ankerberg Theological Research Institute. It details the arrogance and false assumptions behind the Jesus Seminar, and postmodern 'higher criticism' in general. ATRI Description: Liberal scholars today (including the Jesus Seminar) are making headlines with their search for the “real” Jesus. These scholars are turning away from the Bible as they attempt to recreate and redefine the person of Jesus. This book gives you the answers to the most compelling questions: How do liberal theologians see Jesus? What did the Jesus Seminar conclude about Jesus and His teachings? Which should be rejected—the New Testament or liberal critics? What is higher criticism? What are the biblical guidelines for discerning truth? Where can Christians find the real, historical Jesus? Final paragraph: "In conclusion, the extremely small amount of value, if any, of higher criticism seems completely eclipsed by the tremendous damage it does. This is what raises the question of evangelical involvement in such methods. Perhaps the only truly valid consequence of higher criticism can be seen by default—in its utter failure to demonstrate the validity of its assumptions and the truth of its conclusions; by forfeiture it has strengthened the conservative view of Scripture."
