Just as the DNA in a living cell acts as a template for the proteins produced by the cell, so template polymerization techniques treat polymer precursors as templates on which the polymers are formed in a predetermined and controlled manner.

Introducing the first published monograph devoted to this emerging technology. Template polymerization is a new field in polymer synthesis but common practice in the biosynthesis since DNA is the most popular template or matrix on which proteins are built by living species.
