Tanghetto's Emigrante (Electrotango) is real 21st Century Tango; It is, in fact, so new and progressive, that it has spawned a musical category of its own... This is no longer just Tango... oh, no! This is Neo-Tango, and it has been extraordinarily well received from Buenos Aires to Amsterdam to New York, and beyond. No, this is not your father's tango. Some purists even argue that it isn't tango at all. They too have a new category for it: They call it Tango-Loco - to them it's tango gone mad....

Neo-Tango then, for those of you who are still with me here, is a fusion of modern tango with techno and jazz, fueled by a traditional tango beat. A weird thing to say, 'traditional tango beat', now I come to think of it, since most tango (apart from candombe) doesn't use any percussion instruments at all. But I bet you still get my drift, left? All in all, this Neo-Tango produces an interesting sound, to say the least...

If you are an Argentine tango dancer, you should already be familiar with the Neo-Tango genre by now; if not, I guess that you must have been sleeping for the past five or six years. There are many milongas where this music has been hot for quite some while now, mainly because, well... it's so tremendously danceable!

And it's not just Tanghetto you'll hear there, because meanwhile there's a whole lot more of this Neo-Tango floating around. Prepare to be baffled by the music of the Gotan Project and its many remixes; brace yourself to be shaken by the likes of Bajofondo Tango Club, and get ready to go totally narco with Carlos Libedinsky.... because all of these (and more) you'll soon be able to sample for yourself, as long as you stay tuned to what's happening here, at your very own Avaxhome.ru!

Emigrante (Electrotango) then, was Tanghetto's debute album, and sofar they went on to produce one other noteworthy album, called Hybrid Tango (released Dec.10, 2004). Five more of their pieces appeared on Tangophobia Vol.1 (released Jan.1, 2005), a compilation of contemporary (electronic) musicians from Buenos Aires.
