Author: Esther Fuchs Release: 2003 Publisher: Sheffield Academic Press Format: Paperback 248 pages ISBN: 082646954X (0-8264-6954-X) ISBN 13: 9780826469540 (978-0-8264-6954-0) List Price: $84.00 Fuchs puts a new spin on the femme fatale. She does an excellent job of demonstrating how Biblical women are for the most part nothing but breeders and complements for Biblical men. She gives very critical readings that demonstrate patriarchal biases. She provides textual evidence for all of her contentions. She also asserts that to accept misogyny and marginalization in the portrayal of Biblical women is to preclude serious critical approaches. As I read Fuchs' book I spent a lot of time thinking about these Biblical women and realized that for the most part she is left. It is a very thought provoking book.
