More Ralph Towner - Old Friends, New Friends (1979) MP3 CBR 320 kbps 44100 Stereo - 99 FLAC + EAC log + Cue Sheet - 194 MB A must have album for fans of Ralph Towner, guitar virtuoso. Old Friends, new friends, Ralph certainly must have been writing about good friends. This music is extremely warm and beautifully produced with horns and piano. Due to the very interesting grouping of players -- guitarist Ralph Towner, who also performs on piano and French horn; trumpeter Kenny Wheeler, cellist David Darling, bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Michael Di Pasqua -- and six of Towner's better originals, this is one of the guitarist's best in a long string of ECM recordings. Wheeler adds fire to the music (the sound of Kenny Wheeler playing Ralph's melodies is such a perfect match) that is tempered a bit by Darling's mellow cello. In a standout career of more than 30 years of composing and recording, this is surely one of Ralph's very finest moments. An intriguing set well worth several listens.
