More This fresh examination of the Elisha narratives found in 2 Kings 5, 6.8-23 and 6.24-7.20 leads to a new interpretation of them as didactic salvation stories set against the Aramaean military threat to ninth-century Israel. Moore shows how an ingenious literary artistry converges powerfully with contextual dynamics to explicate the surprising and subtle saving actions of Yahweh in a troubled time. Each of the stories offers its own fresh disclosure of the time-worn tradition expressed in Elisha's own name: 'God saves' What rubbish, if god saves then why doesn't god save all who ask sincerely, why is it that men must battle & overcome men to save themselves rather than passively ask god to pacify those who would do harm? Religion and religious thinking is delusion, a dangerous and contradictory delusion. God saves the soul, which is eternal, not the body, which is temporary. As the Bible states, "the natural man does not understand the things of the spirit, nor indeed, can he." If you seek God on His terms, you will see rather than delusion, living a life with God is in fact the only true sanity.
