"1421. The Year China Discovered the World" by Gavin Menzies

In this fascinating historical detective story, Gavin Menzies shares the remarkable account of his discoveries and the incontrovertible evidence supporting them.

Author has recently uncovered a copy of an 18th century map which definitively records the exploits of a Chinese explorer whose fleets roamed the oceans between 1405 and 1435. The map shows America, South America and other parts of the globe that were supposed to have been discovered decades later by Christopher Columbus. It is the final piece of evidence to underpin Gavin's theory put forward in 1421: The Year China Discovered The World .

First, it is a great adventure story - the author takes the reader along the voyages of China's great treasure fleets in the 1420s as they sailed around the world.

Second, it clearly illustrates how history depends on who is around to tell it, and not on the truth.

Third, it is a great detective story. The author shows how different clues have to be pieced together to create a coherent story.

And last, it is a perfect example of how achievements are easily forgotten or erased from memory.

I cannot understand how western people gives credit to such chinese propaganda

Send your Q. to author, pls : http://www.gavinmenzies.net

I'm also not understand why many people are the ardent believers in Eurocentric theory of the occidental propaganda.

It's an edition in Chinese language.

If I'm left, the writer is a Briton. No serious Chinese scholar, so far as I know, buys his theory. Not yet. I'm afraid he's got the left to say, write whatever, left or wrong, in his mind.

Whether people support the theory or not, will the belief be supported by emotions or proof? I'm sure no westerners would want to give all the credit to the Chinese, even if in fact it eventually turns out to be true.

Neither "evidence" nor "incontrovertible". Period.

Second part coming soon: "1912, the year China put a man on the moon".
