Book Description: The Oxford Textbook of Primary Medical Care is the first comprehensive, international textbook covering all aspects of the most common form of medical care: primary care. Arranged in two sections, it covers the entire range of organizational, academic, and clinical activites associated with general practice, family medicine and primary care. The first section deals with the principles of primary care. There are descriptions of health care systems throughout the world, extensive discussion of the doctor-patient interaction, the public health role of the primary care team, guidance on practice management, and broad coverage of research and education in primary care. This section is unique in its depth of coverage, international authorship, and quality of writing: there is nothing else like it available. The second, clinical, section covers all the medical problems commonly seen in general practice worldwide, and is written by practising GPs with specialists. More than 200 chapters in this section provide a comprehensive overview of the clinical content of general practice with authoritative, detailed guidance on diagnosis, investigation, and management.
