More Nordafrika 1941. Panzer zwischen Tobruk und Halfaya-Pass By Hermann Büschleb Das vorliegende Buch ist 1966 unter dem Titel "Feldherren und Panzer im Wüstenkrieg" im Kurt Vowinckel Verlag, Neckargemünd, zum erstenmal erschienen. Wir halten es in seiner Form der Darstellung und durch seine Aussage als eines der besten Werke über die Kämpfe Ende 1941 ostwärts von Tobruk und entschlossen uns daher, es als Pallas-Buch — nun jedoch durch zahlreiche Fotos erweitert — neu herauszubringen. Im Frühjahr 1941 gelang es Rommel, mit seinem Afrika-Korps zwar die ägyptische Grenze bei Sollum zu gewinnen, nicht jedoch Tobruk zu besetzen. Die zum Entsatz der dort eingeschlossenen britischen Kräfte im November 1941 angetretene 8. britische Armee führte zwischen ihr und der seit dem 15. August 1941 gebildeten "Panzergruppe Afrika" auf einem Gebiet von 100 x 100 Kilometern zu tagelangen, verlustreichen Panzerschlachten. Die Überlegenheit der ohne Versorgungsschwierigkeiten kämpfenden Briten zwangen schließlich Rommel zur vorübergehenden Aufgabe der Cyrenaica, jedoch nur, um sie knapp zwei Monate später erneut zu erobern, diesmal einschließlich Tobruk. Das Interesse an diesen sehr beweglichen Kämpfen — wenn von dem Ringen um Tobruk und Bardia, Solluni abgesehen wird -waren das Fehlen fester Fronten, ihre Ähnlichkeit mit Seeschlachten und daraus resultierend die Fülle an Überraschungen. Sie zeigen aber auch, daß noch so hohe Führungskunst und Tapferkeit mangelnde Aufklärung und Versorgung nicht wettzumachen vermögen. Erstere entstand durch die äußerst schwache deutsche und italienische Luftwaffe und letztere durch die große Überlegenheit der Briten im Mittelmeer, die nur Bruchteile an Nachschub nach Nordafrika durchkommen ließen (siehe hierzu das Pallas-Buch: "Geleitzugsschlachten im Mittelmeer"). Beides hing mit der kräfteverzehrenden Krise des ersten Rußlandwinters zusammen. why not in RS???
