More Klaus Chantelau, René Brothuhn, "Multimediale Client-Server-Systeme" Multimediale Client-Server-Anwendungen (insbesondere sog. Rich Internet Applikationen) entwickeln sich rasant. Die Gründe hierfür sind steigende Bandbreiten im Internet, ausgereifte Kompressionstechnologien sowie leistungsstarke Endgeräte. Die Anwendungen sind mittlerweile so attraktiv, dass diese mit dem klassischen Unterhaltungsmedium Fernsehen konkurrieren können. Die Übertragung multimedialer Daten macht inzwischen einen Großteil der Daten aus, welche über das Internet übertragen werden. Ziel dieses Buches ist es, eine Einführung in die Technologien zu geben, welche die Entwicklung attraktiver multimedialer Client-Server-Anwendungen wie z.B. YouTube, ZDFmediathek oder Google Maps ermöglichen. Vorausgesetzt werden elementare Kenntnisse der objektorientierten Programmierung. Von hier aus werden die notwendigen Protokolle und Standards, die wesentlichen Konzepte verteilter und multimedialer Systeme sowie die Anwendungsentwicklung und Programmierung mit Java, AJAX und Flash dargestellt.
