More Zygmunt Bauman, "Modernidad Liquida / Liquid Modernity" La era de la modernidad sólida ha llegado a su fin. ¿Por qué sólida? Porque los sólidos, a diferencia de los líquidos, conservan su forma y persisten en el tiempo: duran. En cambio los líquidos son informes y se transforman constantemente: fluyen. Por eso la metáfora de la liquidez es la adecuada para aprehender la naturaleza de la fase actual de la modernidad. La disolución de los sólidos es el rasgo permanente de esta fase. Los sólidos que se están derritiendo en este momento, el momento de la modernidad líquida, son los vínculos entre las elecciones individuales y las acciones colectivas. Es el momento de la desregulación, de la flexibilización, de la liberalización de todos los mercados. No hay pautas estables ni predeterminadas en esta versión privatizada de la modernidad. Y cuando lo público ya no existe como sólido, el peso de la construcción de pautas y la responsabilidad del fracaso caen total y fatalmente sobre los hombros del individuo. El advenimiento de la modernidad líquida ha impuesto a la condición humana cambios radicales que exigen repensar los viejos conceptos que solían articularla. Zygmunt Bauman examina desde la sociología cinco conceptos básicos en torno a los cuales ha girado la narrativa de la condición humana: emancipación, individualidad, tiempo/espacio, trabajo y comunidad. Como zombis, esos conceptos están hoy vivos y muertos al mismo tiempo. La pregunta es si su resurrección -o su reencarnación- es factible; y, si no lo es, cómo disponer para ellos una sepultura y un funeral decentes.
