It begins by looking at the history of the disease and its transmission by human travel, for tourism, migration etc. It goes on to look at the epidemiology of the disease, the geographical distribution of malaria; the mosquito and measures to prevent being bitten. There are whole chapters dedicated to the drugs used: chlorquinine; azithromycin; mefloquine; doxycycline; primaquine; atovasquone/proguanil; and tefenoquine. The book continues by looking at special groups, such as the military, migrants, preganant women and children. There are a number of chapters on malaria diagnosis and clinical features as well as emergency treatment. The last chapters discuss vaccines and methods of making travellers aware of the methods of disease prevention. The book is intended for health professionals interested in travel medicine.
