After Haendel, Mozart and Rossini, María Bayo returns to a repertory particularly dear to her heart and of which she is an undisputed specialist : Spanish song. She is accompanied for the occasion by a pianist who has payed for the greatest voices of the century, Malcom Martineau.

This splendid panorama takes in the celebrated Tonadillas of Granados as well as exciting discoveries such as the Castilian Songs of Toldrà and Guridi, not forgetting the Latin American contribution to the genre, with the warm sensuality of Xavier Montsalvatge's Punto de habanera and the irresistible Azulao (Bluebird) by the Brazilian composer Jayme Ovalle, which was Victoria de los Angeles' favourite encore. To add to our pleasure, María Bayo even offers a detour by way of Ravel (of Basque origin on his mother's side) and his Cinq mélodies populaires grecques, which have rarely had so Mediterranean a flavour to them! A recital that is sheer joy from beginning to end.
