Top Hollywood talent agent Jack Giamoro (Ben Affleck) seems to have it all: a successful career, money, a beautiful wife. But he still feels like something is missing, and so he takes a journal writing class to explore his feelings. But when Jack learns his wife Nina (Rebecca Romijn) is cheating on him with his most important client, his perfect life quickly starts to unravel. Things get even worse when Jack's journal --which contains secrets that could ruin him personally and professionally -- is stolen by ambitious journalist Barbi (Bai Ling). Jack must fight back to hold on to everything he has fought so hard to win, and in doing so he finally achieves the self-insight he was looking for -- and he realizes that only through family can he really find lasting happiness.

"Diario de un ejecutivo agresivo" está ambientada en el frenético mundo de las agencias de talentos de Hollywood, donde todo tiene un precio muy alto. En esta poco convencional comedia, el mejor cazatalentos de Los Ángeles, Jack Giamoro (Ben Affleck), parece tenerlo todo: una carrera de éxito, dinero y una mujer hermosa llamada Nina (Rebecca Romijn). Pero siente que le falta algo, así que se apunta a clases de creación literaria –impartidas por el pomposo y temperamental Sr. Primkin (John Cleese)– para aprender a escribir un diario y explorar así sus sentimientos. Al escribir su diario, Jack comienza a reconsiderar su vida, viéndose inundado por una serie de recuerdos tanto cómicos como trágicos, flashbacks que se desarrollan en la pantalla como viejas instantáneas tomadas de un álbum familiar. Cuando Jack descubre que su mujer se la está jugando con su cliente más importante, el guionista de teleseries Phil Balow (Adam Goldberg), su perfecta vida se empieza a tambalear. Las cosas se tuercen aún más cuando el diario de Jack –que contiene secretos que podrían acabar con su vida personal y profesional– es robado por una ambiciosa periodista, Barbi Ling (Bai Ling). Jack deberá enfrentarse a ella para no perder todo por lo que ha luchado y, al hacerlo, termina aprendiendo mucho sobre sí mismo.
