LISO contains 12 units, of which includes exercises for listening and speaking based on a one-minute monolog (usually a humorous anecdote and a 1.5 minute spontaneous discussion on a topic related to the monolog. LISO is designed to be used as the primary text in conversation course or as a supplementary text in a class which also teaches other kinds of listening comprehension and speaking skills (e.g. academic lecture comprehension, survival skills)
