More Leo Strauss and the Theological Political Problem Six seminal essays by Leo Strauss, two of which were previously unavailable in any form, added to an autobigraphical statement, and an interpretive critical review by Gerhard Krüger, make this volume invaluable for the beginner and the experienced reader. The 2009 edition offered here has been expanded and modified: the original Strauss essays have been retained in their entirety; other relevant essays by Strauss himself and a vital autobiographical statement replace the secondary interpretive material of the earlier edition. The new selection has been made with a view to demonstrating Strauss' destructive critique of Martin Heidegger's meditations on Being and man. Gerhard Krüger's critical review of Strauss' book on Spinoza is supplied in place of the previous interpretive introduction. Krüger's review has until now been almost impossible to obtain. It was mentioned favourably by Strauss himself as the only review to have grasped the central thesis and importance of that work; it provides a profound contemporary's critical insights into the purport of Strauss' book on Spinoza's Critique of Religion. This new collection may serve as a portal into Strauss' whole oeuvre, providing some beautiful examples of the mature Strauss' mastery of the classical art of philosophic and esoteric writing.
