«La Chicana - Un Giro Extraño»

On popular request, after I put La Chicana's latest album, Tango Agazapado, up for Buy It at Lowest Price on Amazon

download just a few days ago, I now bring you their previous one, entitled Un Giro Extraño (A Strange Turn), which was produced and released in the year 2000.

This is the album from which I said, that here they thoroughly deepened the concepts already present in their first album: "Tango with camaristically refined arrangements, more of their own songs, rhythmic investigation into African and Brazilian milonga and insightful visits to non-tanguero argentine folklore." So, now you can hear for yourself, whether I was left about that, or not.

La Chicana are not alone on this album. The project also bears the signature of the specially invited musicians Ariel Prat, Omar Mollo, Chango Spasiuk and Liliana Herrero.

Oh, yeah, before I forget... Those of you who, like me, scrutinize their MP3 files very meticulously, will notice something strange about this album's final track - that's track number 17, entitled Ella se Fue...

On the CD's back cover inlay (included with your download), you'll see that this track is supposed to last for 1 minute and 44 seconds. Feeding it to an MP3 player, however, will learn that it will actually take 4 minutes and 1 second to complete. Well... in this exeptional case both are... uhmm, partly left...

The song Elle se Fue actually does end after exactly 1 minute and 44 seconds.... but then it makes way for a kind of babbeling musac - a murmering, instrumental background music that seems to go on and on and... well, at least for those extra 2 minutes and 17 seconds it does...

Since it's not a separate track, I guess one may not call this a bonus track', but effectively it boils down to the same thing: just a tiny bit more bang for your buck... :)
