Es lässt sich durch Plug-Ins erweitern und verfügt mit seiner universellen Datenschnittstelle über weit gehende Austauschmöglichkeiten mit anderen CAD-Programmen.Das vorliegende Buch ist ein Einstieg in die 3D-Konstruktion und zugleich eine Einführung in das Programmpaket SolidWorks.In ausführlichen Workshops mit steigendem Schwierigkeitsgrad behandelt der Autor den Übergang von 2D auf 3D und die vielfältigen Konstruktionsmöglichkeiten mit der Software.Der Leser beginnt mit einfachen Skizzen und Grundmustern. Daraus erzeugt er 3D-Bauteile und fügt diese zu einer virtuellen Maschine zusammen. Er leitet 2D-Zeichnungen aus den Teilen ab, katalogisiert sie in Tabellen und visualisiert sie als 3D-Animation.
