Petra Köppel identifiziert die verschiedenen Konflikt- und Synergieformen von multikulturellen Gruppen, vergleicht diese in virtuellen und face-to-face-Umgebungen und entwickelt ein multikulturelles Input-Prozess-Output-Modell (MIPO-Modell), das Ansatzpunkte für die Gestaltung und Führung multikultureller Teams liefert.Die neuen Medien ermöglichen die virtuelle Zusammenarbeit multikultureller Arbeitsgruppen, doch interkulturelle Missverständnisse erschweren oftmals die Zusammenarbeit. Es stellt sich daher die Frage, ob multikulturelle Teams an die Effektivität monokultureller Teams heranreichen, insbesondere, wenn deren Mitglieder nur über Medien miteinander kommunizieren.

Petra Köppel identifiziert die verschiedenen Konflikt- und Synergieformen von multikulturellen Gruppen und vergleicht diese in virtuellen und face-to-face-Umgebungen. Darauf aufbauend entwickelt sie ein multikulturelles Input-Prozess-Output-Modell (MIPO-Modell), das Ansatzpunkte für die Gestaltung und Führung multikultureller Arbeitsgruppen liefert. Insbesondere legt die Autorin dabei Wert auf eine differenzierte und synergieorientierte Aufschlüsselung des Einflussfaktors Kultur, um die bisher zu stark vereinfachenden und defizitärorientierten Ansätze abzulösen.
