Aufgrund begrenzter finanzieller Reserven sind junge Unternehmen i. d. R. anfälliger für umweltbedingte Einflüsse, die unternehmerische Situation ist durch erhöhte Unsicherheit gekennzeichnet und es mangelt noch an einer etablierten Unternehmenskultur. Dabei verstärken mitunter der finanzielle und operationale Druck die Bereitschaft, nach primär zweckdienlichen Lösungen zu suchen.

Kim Oliver Tokarski arbeitet die Bedeutung und die Relevanz einer Unternehmensethik junger Unternehmen heraus und nimmt eine Explikation der zugrunde liegenden Werte und Einstellungen sowie der ethischen Positionierung von Unternehmern in jungen Unternehmen vor. In einer breit gefassten theoretischen Ausarbeitung werden dazu sowohl philosophische, als auch ökonomische Argumentationslinien aufgezeigt und miteinander verknüpft. Anschließend werden die Ergebnisse einer empirischen Studie vorgestellt, in der es um die tatsächliche Relevanz, Positionierung und Ausdifferenzierung einer Unternehmensethik in der Zielgruppe geht. Abschließend liefert der Autor wertvolle Gestaltungsempfehlungen sowohl für junge Unternehmen als auch für die Entrepreneurship-Lehre sowie die Entrepreneurship Ausbildung.
