It examines the revival of the Lords, judicial authority in 1621, and their subsequent operations both as a court of appeal and as a court of original jurisdiction in the later parliaments of the century. The book sheds important new light on the state of contemporary law and legal proceedings, and on the impact of political and religious change on private citizens and the public at large.
