John Williamson is, without a doubt, True Blue. In fact, when talking about him it's hard not to put the words True (always with a capital T) and Blue (again a capital B) next to his name. True Blue is, of course, Williamson's most popular single from the early '80s. But it's also a pair of words that celebrate Australianess, just as Williamson does.

Since entering the music scene in the '70s, Williamson has pegged his name on award boards all over Australia. He's a member of The Order of Australia, is big on keeping Australia (and our wildlife) beautiful, and is currently touring with his 33rd album. That album, Hillbilly Road, is out now.

Starting out in full-on country-style Hillbilly Road begins with Flowers on the Concrete. Not sure it makes sense... but who cares? Cydi makes you want to be a 15-year-old farm hand, Mcleods Daughters style. While Pmarra Knatcha (My Home in the Bush) and Australia is Another Word For Free, both co-written by Warren H Williams, explain their affinity to this country and it's country.

Woody guitar sounds and Williamson's friendly voice dominate the entire album, with Williams adding an extra layer with an assortment of Aboriginal sounds. There are no great surprises on Hillbilly Road, (bar Beach of Love - check it out), but that's not really a bad thing. Williamson has had his method perfected for over 30 years. Why change it now?

Inspired by his rural retreat in Queensland, Hillbilly Road makes you want to look around and say, 'How's the serenity?' Full of calming ballads and unique Australianess, this album will not disappoint Williamson's legion of fans.
