More Jets-Geschwader im Aufbruch: Erste Jets der Bundeswehr in Luftwaffe und Marine Die größten Schwierigkeiten der Anfangszeit in der militärischen Fliegerei in der Bundesrepublik sind darin begründet, dass zwischen dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs und dem Neubeginn militärischer Fliegerei mehr als zehn Jahre fliegerischer Stillstand herrschte. In diese Zeit fiel jedoch die Einführung erster Jet-Kampf- und Trainingsflugzeuge in die Streitkräfte der NATO-Partner. Der Bundeswehr fehlte diese Übergangszeit und die damit verbundenen Erfahrungen, die beim Einstieg in das Jet-Zeitalter zusätzlich aufgeholt werden mussten. Die amerikanische Luftwaffe war primärer Partner und Mentor in diesen schwierigen Jahren, die vom Pionier- und Improvisationsgeist der deutschen Soldaten geprägt waren. Auf mehr als 300 Seiten, darunter viele Bilder und Archivaufnahmen, erhält der Leser umfangreiche Informationen von den Aufträgen der einzelnen Jet-Verbände und der geflogenen Luftfahrzeugmuster. Ergänzt wird dieses durch die Schilderung einiger Hintergrundgeschichten und Begebenheiten am Rande. Kropf gewährt Einblicke in die Aufstellung der Jet-Verbände, die Ausbildung der Luftfahrzeugführer, das nationale Übungsgeschehen und die Einbindung dieser Kräfte in das Bündnis. Dabei beschreibt er auch die Herausforderungen und Lasten dieser Aufbauphase, und erwähnt die Opfer, die dabei zu beklagen waren. So erinnert dieses Buch auch an die Kameraden, die im Dienst für unser Land ihr Leben verloren haben. Außerdem hat Kropf eine Übersicht des Führungspersonals der Luftwaffe und der Flugzeugverluste zusammengetragen. Kropf ist mit seinem empfehlenswerten Buch eine annähernd lückenlose Dokumentation über ein kaum beachtetes Thema gelungen. German text with English text to all photo/illustration captions. or
